What this checks
X does not publish a shadowban status, so nobody can read one directly. What is measurable is whether your public content behaves normally in the surfaces where filtering shows up.
Search ban
We confirm your recent posts exist, then search for them the way a stranger would. Posts that exist but never appear in search are the clearest signal there is.
Search suggestions
Whether your account still surfaces when someone searches your handle, or whether you have been dropped from account discovery.
Reply visibility
We take a real reply you posted and read that conversation as an outsider. If your reply is missing from the public list, it is not reaching non-followers.
Why this one says “I don't know”
The other shadowban checkers always return a verdict. That is exactly what makes them unreliable. They fire a single search, and when it comes back empty they report that you are banned, even though an empty result far more often means their own access to X was throttled that minute.
So before we read anything into your results, we run a control search that has to return results. If the control comes back empty, the fault is ours and we say so instead of blaming your account. We only test posts old enough to have reached the search index, we skip protected accounts entirely because those are absent from search by design, and we never claim a post is hidden without first confirming it exists.
A single run is still only a snapshot. Real filtering is persistent, so if something shows up here, run it again tomorrow before you conclude anything. A signal that vanishes overnight was noise.
